Most of the organisations have a common thread flowing through their leave policy, like the facility of Casual Leave, Annual or Privilege leave, Sick leave, Compensatory Off etc. However, the rules associated with these could make them difficult to manage and cross-check each leave application for the HR team.

- Leave policy definition - Emportant allows defining multiple leave policies for various categories or groups of employees. This eliminates the manual control and maintenance of manaul/paper or spreadsheet based leave cards. You can define various leave and attendance heads in the system and associated policies
- Automation of accrual and credit rules - Define accrual and credit rules - whether certain leave is credited in advance, every month, every six month or after a year. - Year-end crediting and encashment - Leave balances are carried forward during start of new Leave year, as per company policy. The Leave year could be the Calendar year, Financial year or any other dates as per company policy. New leave balance is accrued at the start of the year and automatic Leave encashment is done wherever applicable.
- Compliance of availing rules - Organisations have various rules defined as part of the policy, like certain leave can not be taken more than thrice in a year, cannot avail more than 3 days at a time, can not be combined with some other leave etc. Emportant ensures compliance to all these policies automatically.
- Self service based leave application/approval workflow - No need to send emails or fill-up leave application form any more - Emportant allows employee to apply for availing / cancelling Leave online, notifies the manager by email - who in turn can approve or reject them online. The employee dashboard gives managers a single window view into all pending workflows and leave requests thus enabling quick response and approvals.
- Leave updation by HR - HR users have the facility to update the leave availed by employees at any time and to regularise the leave taken during previous months. Employee Leave balances are instantly updated and can be checked for any date range.
- Leave Query - Employees and HR can view leave details and leave balances at any time. Employees have full access to their Leave availed record and can view the balance as on any date. Managers have access to Departmental leave calendar which gives a pictorial view of Leave plan for the month. This is an indispensable tool to plan the leave of other employees in the Department.
